DetailsIn 1981, Taito Ward established the "Taito Ward Mayor's Award" in the field of fine arts with the aim of supporting the development of young artists. This award is presented to outstanding artists from among the fine arts majors (Japanese painting, oil painting, and printmaking) at Tokyo University of the Arts.

In 2018, coinciding with the reopening of the former Tokyo Music School Concert Hall, Taito Ward established a new "Taito Ward Mayor's Award" in the field of music. Two students who have achieved outstanding results in practical music majors are awarded the "Taito Ward Mayor's Award," and a commemorative concert is held featuring the award recipients.
